The European Film Festival of Atlanta returns to the Plaza Theatre May 12-14, 2023. The program showcases 20 screenings, including Saint Omer by Alice Diop, the film selected to represent France this year.

After the success of its first edition, the European Film Festival of Atlanta is back in 2023 with an even richer program!

With 20 film screenings, this festival invites you to discover the great diversity of European cinema.

  • In solidarity with the Ukrainian people, the festival will open with a screening of Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom. This documentary directed by Evgeny Afineevsky will be presented on Friday, May 12, 2023 at 6pm and will be followed by a reception.
  • The French selection for the festival Saint Omer by Alice Diop, awarded best first film at the César Awards 2023, winner of the Silver Lion Grand Jury prize at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival, will be screened on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 6:00 PM.

The European Film Festival of Atlanta is organized by Alliance Française Atlanta, Goethe-Zentrum, and the Consulates of 19 European countries - Austria, Belgium, the Republic of Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland.
