French education in Atlanta and the Southeast [fr]

Whether you want to give your children the opportunity to improve their knowledge of French, or follow the curriculum recognized by the French Ministry of Education, you will find below the schools that offer instruction in French in our jurisdiction.

Certified schools with a French curriculum

Schools with a French curriculum recognized by the French Ministry of Education provide families with the assurance of conformity to the French educational model and the quality of the teaching provided.
A student from an approved school may continue his or her education without prior examination in another approved school (subject to availability of places) or in a public school in France.
For students of French nationality, schooling in such establishments entitles them to French scholarships, subject to assets and resources.

French-English bilingual programs in American public schools

Across the country, more than 180 American public schools (or public charters) offer bilingual education in French. These so-called "dual-language" or "immersion programs" are aligned with U.S. state curricula. French is used as a language of instruction for non-linguistic subjects (math, science, etc.). Not all of these programs offer "linguistic" French (grammar, conjugation), but it is still very widespread.

In Atlanta and the Southeast, 13 public schools offer bilingual French-English programs.

Please note that the programs offered by these schools are not certified by the French Ministry of Education. However, some schools have been awarded the LabelFrancEducation by the French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs (see below for details).
