Day of Defense and Citizenship (JDC) [fr]
The Consulate General of France will hold its 2017 Journée de Défense et Citoyenneté session on Monday, November 13 from 1:30 pm to 5 pm in Atlanta.
The national service has two requirements:
census at age 16
Journée Défense et Citoyenneté (or JDC) between ages 16 and 25.
It also includes civil or military volunteers.
Participants will receive a certificate of completion (given at the end of the JDC or sent out by mail a few weeks after the session).
This important document is required, until the age of 25, in order to be admitted to take various state exams or permits. French citizens ages 16 to 25 who have not completed their military obligations (census then JDC) will be unable to register for the French baccalauréat, admissions exam to the Fonction publique, drivers license, hunting license, etc.
The summons letters for the JDC 2017 were sent out on October 12, 2017. If you wish to be summonsed but did not receive a letter, please contact immediately the consular services by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
