French teachers are invited to participate in a free training on "Learning and Teaching with TV5Monde" at the Alliance française d’Atlanta on June 29.
Organized by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the French Consulate in Atlanta and TV5Monde, the main objectives of this workshop are to:
learn the best teaching practices in using audio-visual documents;
explore the website ‘TV5Monde’ and its resources;
learn how to teach media literacy;
understand the main parts that constitute an ICT-based lesson plan.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
incorporate TV5Monde resources in their curriculum;
adapt a lesson plan to the needs of their target audience;
use an audiovisual document to develop not only the listening skills but also the reading, writing and speaking skills;
use the search engine and the filters on the TV5Monde website to find relevant videos to be used in class.
Guy Vandenbroucke is an experienced educator with more than 30 years of experience in the teaching of French as a foreign language. He has presented workshops at BELC events (France), FIPF Annual Meetings (Switzerland), ACTFL conferences (Belgium) and CAIS Regional meetings (California). He was a member of the National Committee about Bilingual High School Curriculum and Baccalaureate organization, Ministry of Education, Budapest, Hungary. Guy attended the BELC Summer University in Nantes in July 2015, where he obtained his TV5Monde Trainer Certification.Guy teaches at the Crossroads School for Arts and Science (Santa Monica).
