3 NC WWII Veterans Receive French Legion of Honor

On February 8, 2017, Consul General Louis de Corail presented the Legion of Honor medal to 3 WWII veterans during a ceremony at the State Capitol in Raleigh, NC.

In attendance were North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, North Carolina Secretary of State Elaine Marshall, North Carolina Secretary of Veterans Affairs Larry Hall, State Representative Grier Martin, and Honorary Consul to Raleigh Marie-Claire Ribeill.

The following veterans received the insignia of knight in recognition of their courage:
John Dewitt Waters from Casar, NC (Staff Sergeant, 358th Infantry Regiment, Company H, 3rd Battalion);
Earnest “Benny” Moore from Yanceyville, NC (Sergeant, Company C, 115th Infantry, 29th Division);
Irvin “Buck” Price from Tarboro, NC (Seaman First Class, LST 285).
