The city of Atlanta, Paris Airports and Paris Region sign a cooperation agreement to promote business between the aetropolis
Mr. Detilleux, Mr. Reed and Mrs. Le Masson signed the cooperation agreement, in the presence of Mr. Pascal Le Deunff
On July 11, 2011, in Atlanta, Mayor Kasim Reed signed with Jean-Claude Detilleux, President of Paris Region Development Office (Hubstart Paris) and Elisabeth Le Masson, Representative of Paris Airports, in the presence of the Consul General of France, Pascal Le Deunff, a Memorandum of Understanding for the economic development of the airports areas.
This MOU was envisioned for the first time in December 2010 during a logistics seminar organized during “France-Atlanta 2010” by the Consulate General of France, Georgia Tech and the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Then, discussions were held during Kasim Reed’s visit to Paris last January (“Conference on the Greater Roissy.”) and were continued last Spring in Atlanta.
The MOU has 3 main objectives:
- To promote the aerotropolis of Roissy and Atlanta to companies already established in one of these areas wishing to expand internationally to Europe or the United States. The City of Atlanta will therefore propose Greater Roissy as a destination for local Atlanta companies looking for investments in Europe and, Paris Region Development Office partners will direct local French potential investors towards Atlanta when they are looking for a location in the USA.
- To jointly prospect for companies in emerging countries that are seeking to expand internationally and to establish themselves in Europe or in the USA.
- To create an international network of aerotropolis.
During the meetings organized in parallel with the signature of the memorandum,a specific plan of action was developed, which should boost economic relations between the Paris Region and Atlanta.
