Grants, scholarships and annual contests
Teacher’s Workshops in France
A stage pédagogique de courte durée or SPCD is a training grant aimed at helping teachers perfect their skills in methodologies for teaching French language and culture. The SPCD grants are intended for teachers of French who work in American elementary or secondary schools. A special training is also offered for teachers working in French immersion programs. The training sessions last two weeks and take place in France at a training center selected by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy.
Each grant includes:
Training fees (including a cultural activities package) paid directly by the French government to each training
Train tickets from Paris to the destination city (round-trip, 2nd class)
An allowance covering a portion of housing costs and food expenses based on the costs of a home stay with a French family (breakfast and dinner included) and lunches purchased from a university cafeteria (3-7 €).
International airfare is the responsibility of the participant.
Created in 2001-2002 by the Ministry of Foreign and European affairs Direction of International cooperation and development, under the initiative of the Conseil supérieur des Français de l’étranger (CSFE) and Senators representing the French living abroad, it is directed to French communities living abroad.

Language Assistants Program
The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States offer every year 1,500 positions of English language assistants in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools of France.
