Presentation of the Cultural Services
Based in New York City and Washington D.C., the Cultural Services of the French Embassy also have eight regional offices across the United States. Its Southeastern branch is located in Atlanta and covers 6 states: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Under the leadership of Bénédicte de Montlaur, Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy and Permanent Representative of French Universities in the United States, the French Cultural Services promote the best of French arts, literature, cinema, language, and higher education in the US by bringing artists, authors, educational and university programs to cities nationwide and fostering French-American exchange around literature and the arts.
Programs are offered directly by the French Cultural Services or through the Embassy’s non-profit partners : the FACE (French American Cultural Exchange) Foundation and the Albertine Books Foundation. The French Cultural Services also coordinate nominations and award ceremonies for honorary distinctions awarded to Americans and others living in the U.S. in recognition of exceptional artistic and academic accomplishments.
