Atlanta welcomes two startups from Toulouse [fr]
From October 31-November 11, the City of Atlanta will welcome two startup technology companies from Toulouse, France for the US component of the inaugural transatlantic program, « Atlanta Toulouse Startup Exchange ».
Executives from the French companies, Donecle and Uwinloc will fulfill their two-week residency at the Garage at Tech Square and will participate in programs at ATDC and Sandbox. Consul General Louis de Corail will host a networking reception with the local French-American business community. The residency will provide key partners the opportunity to showcase the City of Atlanta as an economically-sound choice for their North American operations in the future. They will also attend the 2016 Venture Atlanta conference, which draws over 1,000 attendees annually and has led to more than $1.3 billion in startup investment since 2002.
The visit of Donecle and Uwinloc complements the two-week residency in France by Atlanta-based companies Carbice and Partpic that took place at the Airbus BizLab and the CapGemini Lab’innovation in October.
« This program is the natural progression of our longstanding relationship between Atlanta and Toulouse, » said Consul General Louis de Corail. « The sister-city relationship has been vital to forging cultural and educational ties over the past 40 years, and we would like to see these same connections established between companies. To this end, we will work with the two cities to make this startup exchange program an annual affair. »
Spearheaded by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of International Affairs, Invest Atlanta and the City of Toulouse, the Atlanta-Toulouse Startup Exchange is the result of a series of activities commemorating the 40th sister city anniversary between Atlanta and Toulouse last year. In April 2015, City of Atlanta Chief of Staff Candace Byrd led a delegation to Toulouse, which was followed by a trade mission led by Invest Atlanta. Toulouse Councilmembers Aviv Zonabend and Nicole Miquel-Belaud also visited Atlanta in October 2015.
