The 17th edition of the Atlanta Francophonie Festival will take place from March 12 to April 8, 2016.
Each year, over 270 million French speakers celebrate the French language, Francophone cultures and diversity worldwide on International Francophonie Day which is held year year on March 20th . Many events are organized for the occasion such as word contests, film festivals, literary festivals, culinary events, exhibitions, and more.
This month, Atlanta will once again celebrate the Francophonie with the 17th edition of the Atlanta Francophonie Festival from March 12 to April 8, 2016.
Several educational and cultural events will take place in various locations around the city, including:
- A Drawing Contest for Middle school and High School students
- Film screenings
- A play
- A business conference on the role of the French language in Africa
- A family picnic
- Roundtables with experts

 Observed within the International Organization of La Francophonie’s 77 member states, the date celebrates the signing of the Niamey Convention in Niger on March 20, 1970. The convention established the Agence de Coopération Culturelle et Technique, the precursor to the International Organization of La Francophonie.
